Response to Law Commission’s Consultation Paper on Media Laws

In May 2014, the Law Commission of India issued a consultation paper, to seek responses to amendment in media laws in the country. A number of issues were raised regarding media laws and regulations, and we at ALF have submitted our responses to the Commission on the following points:

a. Cross media ownership
b. Media and Privacy
c. Defamation
d. Trial by Media

The submissions on these points were drafted by Smarika Kumar, Namita Malhotra, Danish Sheikh and Lawrence Liang respectively. Below is a copy of the response by ALF to the Law Commission on its consultation paper regarding media laws.
