Remembering July 2nd: Naz Foundation & Ors. V. Union of India

On second July 2009, a historic decision was pronounced by a bench of Delhi HC. The decision in Naz Foundation and Ors v Union of India, read down Section 377 of the IPC and effectively decriminalized carnal intercourse.

While this decision was overruled by the Supreme Court in Suresh Koushal and Anr v. Naz Foundation and Ors in 2013, it chartered a path for the LGBTQI movement.

So what was this decision and what was this path that it chartered it out? Listen from Arvind Narain, one of the intervenors in the matter.
